e grow our produce using natural methods, without synthetic chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. The small scale of our operations lends itself best to manual techniques for most activities, but we do take advantage of technology where possible. We grow all of our crops in drip-irrigated raised beds covered with landscape fabric. The fabric virtually eliminates the need for weeding and the drip systems allow efficient, economical watering (no runoff) and provide a means of delivering organic fertilizers such as fish emulsion to the plants. Tomatoes are staked and trellised using the “Florida Weave” system, so the fruit remains free of contact with the ground. At harvest, the vine ripened produce is wiped with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris, prior to packaging in 10 lb. or 15 lb., single-layer cardboard flats. To preserve natural enzymes, texture and flavor, tomatoes are not refrigerated before delivery.
